Cork Floor Maintenance
Vacuum or dust mop regularly. Wipe away dirt with a cloth damped in water mixed with a few drops of dish soap or SafeChoice Super Clean. As with any wood floor, do not wet-mop or flood the floor with water.
The manufacturer of our Expanko planks recommends cleaning with a mop that has been dampened in a solution of Ivory liquid soap and water and wrung out well. Never flood the floor or use harsh or abrasive cleaners.
On Expanko floors with the polyurethane finish, scuffs may be buffed away. Use a low-speed (175-600 RPM) rotary buffing machine. Test first in an inconspicuous area. Do not use any type of buffing compound, wax or liquid on the floor. Dust mop to remove residue.
When the polyurethane begins to show signs of wear, re-coat the floor. Lightly screen, then apply two coats of the Expanko-recommended polyurethane.

Expanko floors with the wax finish can also be buffed. To prevent damage to the cork, it's imperative to replenish the wax as signs of wear become evident. This is usually necessary least once per year. Apply Johnson's Traffic paste wax with a lambs wool applicator or soft cloth. Allow to dry at least 30 minutes, then polish with a soft buffing pad on a floor machine. For normal buffing, use a white pad. To remove stubborn scuffs, use a red pad. To create a higher gloss, try a wool pad. Additional coats of wax may be applied immediately after the previous coat has been buffed/polished. Floors are ready to be walked on after the wax has been polished. Typically, new floors need more frequent buffing because the wax is not yet fully hardened.
