The island becomes the center of the kitchen, where everyone congregates while meals are being made. You can even do an overhang on one side, stash a few stools underneath, and it becomes a wonderful place to sip coffee while the kids eat breakfast. Choose the Natural Oil finish to use your butcher block as a great big cutting board with out concerns of toxicity. For wet environments or around sinks you can opt for the zero maintenance, non-toxic, marine grade satin finish.
